DigitalOcean vs Vultr vs Ventureer SSD VPS Benchmarks

You know we like to test our server´s performance and we liked to test it against other providers so we´ve done it against two of the most famous and qualified VPS providers.

We wanted to check similar performance so we run a face to face test to the most basic servers on each provider:

  • DigitalOcean´s 512Mb RAM, 1 core, 20 GB SSD disk and 1 Tb transfer.
  • Vultr´s 768Mb RAM, 1 core, 15 GB SSD disk and 1Tb transfer.
  • Ventureer´s 512 Mb RAM, 1 core, 20 GB SSD disk and 1 Tb transfer.

We trust the UnixBench test we´ve been running previously on our OpenVZ servers so we wanted to run it on the new SSD based servers. Let´s see what we got.

DigitalOcean and Vultr servers have been created in their datacenter at Amsterdam, the closer I found to our datacenter in France. Only general and basic disk performance was tested so a UnixBench and simple disk writing test has been executed in the servers.

Overall performance for all servers was outstanding, SSD disks improve heavily on server work. Let´s see general CPU characteristics on each server:

Our server´s information is not disclosed in the cpuinfo file but I can tell you we use Intel Xeon E3 1245v2 3.4 Ghz with SSD disks for our virtual infrastructure. Clearly the bogomips speed measure is higher in Ventureer´s infrastructure but let´s check the test results (higher is better).

You can find more details in the video below with the full test results but on first instance the Ventureer server outperforms DigitalOcean by a 73% and Vultr by 20%.
